An audio-visual storytelling experience of Detroit’s hair legacy and culture featuring photography by Justin JMillz Milhouse and audio stories by Shannon Cason.
Sponsored by Optik Detroit PopUp
Since the 1980s, Detroit stylists have designed larger than life hair creations to be shown off at the HAIR WARS - Detroit event. Behind these extravagant formations of shapes and colors is a local industry of highly skilled barbers and stylists. Through hair they have personified Detroit’s culture of innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity.
Audio storyteller Shannon Cason and photographer Justin Milhouse have collaborated to tell the story of Detroit, “Hair Capital of the World.” Experience narratives from local beauty and barber shops at this photography and audio storytelling exhibit.
On Display through April 23
